i can wear his shoes.
i can wear his t-shirts.
i only have about 4 inches and 10 pounds on him.
watching my oldest turn into a young man...
exciting
fun

fascinating, but weird.

he is never this sad.
unless he is served something he doesn't like to eat
or he feels he hasn't had enough time with his peeps.
one of the happiest kids i know.
hands down.

4 ups.
4 smacks to the outfield.
he played pitcher and left field.
big play maker at both positions.
it is fun to watch him.
he follows the game this season.
he knows where the play needs to be made.
not just a spectator on the field.
it paid off.
he got the game ball.
he wasn't very excited about that...
yeah right!

sometimes i forget.
middle was dir-ty tonight before bed.
a full day of school.
playing at the benches under the oak after.
a little bit of time in the hood before dark.
then onto church and the playground.
capital d-i-r-t-y!
i told him to wash his face before bed.
he looked at me like i was speaking in mandarin.
i started to get ruffled then thought, huh?
i don't believe i have ever taught this boy to wash his face.
i always scrub him up in the tub.
a quick face washin' when needed...
but i always do it.
so tonight...
the basics.
face washing 101.
he was an exceptional student.
just needed to be taught.
