DSC_8259
when we get to church on sunday morning and wednesday night the biggins jump out of the car and run into class.

cars can see them.

not little three year olds.

i make him walk with me until we are past the parked cars.

then he looks over his shoulder,

yells, "bye mom! i gee you yater."

and off he goes,

to his class,

by himself.

he promptly shoos me off to my class when i stop by to make sure he arrived safely.

role call

this is the regular cast of characters we affectionately refer to as the hoodlums...

the kids from the hood.

there maybe another child or two in the mix at any given time.

but this is the core.

the ones who knock on my door incessantly until someone answers.

ring the doorbell at naptime.

eat all my snacks.

drink the lunch box drinks.

enjoy the Popsicles from the freezer 2 at a time.

make my boys happy.

why else?

DSC_8226
this is the exact reason we had these built,

with the little ledges,

& painted white.

so our three boys,

with dirty little croc feet,

would have some place to stand

while having a conversation with their mom.

not a marshmallow

DSC_1083

charlie found the perfect stick for roasting marshmallows.

good arch to keep out of the flame.

long enough so his hand didn't get hot.

strong enough so the weight of the mallow didn't bend the stick.

the above were also good stick qualities for sneak attacking his dad...

while waiting for the fire to cool down...

for the first s'mores of the summer.
